Bruce was born January 20, 1948 in Rigby, Idaho to Rodney Bert and Eva Benson Howell. He attended school at Archer Elementary and graduated from Madison High School in 1966. He was married in the Idaho Falls Temple November 25, 1966 to his high school sweetheart Aldene Beesley. During their 43 years of marriage, they lived together in Rigby, Idaho, Paris, Idaho and Omak, Washington, until they finally settled in Rexburg, Idaho, living for the past 33 years in the Burton area. Bruce had fond childhood memories of time spent with his Grandma Howell and his many uncles and aunts in Ashton, Idaho. From a young age he showed proficiency with equipment and machines which would prove to serve him well throughout his professional life. Bruce spent most of his career working in the deep core drilling and drill rig fabrication industries, making many contributions to the world of drilling and the science of mineral exploration. His work took him all over the world to places such as South Africa, Australia, Bolivia, Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala and Japan. He also worked all over the United States and Canada and especially enjoyed working on several extended research projects on the islands of Hawaii. He was awarded an Honorary Degree in Drilling Engineering from the University of Hawaii and was known all over the world as one of the top experts in his field. When not working hard, Bruce enjoyed playing hard. During his life he was an accomplished pilot. He loved riding his Harley with his wife and friends. He also loved fishing, camping, archery, boating, 4-wheeling and travelling the country with his family in his motor home. Bruce is survived by his wife Aldene, his children Brett Howell of Salt Lake City, Brenda (Jason) Randall , Angie Brown of Rexburg, and Ashley (Chris) Wood of Twin Falls. The thrills of his life were his 10 grandchildren whom he loved each for their unique talents and personalities; Madison, Monroe and Seth Howell; Colton, Megan and Emily Randall; Cody and Mckenzie Brown; and Wyatt and Kaidree Wood.
